The 31,000-SM, 200-key tower is a significant part of the development surrounding Al Shaya’s flagship shopping center and the Avenues Kuwait; it is poised to become the regional standard bearer for Hilton’s Waldorf Astoria brand. CallisonRTKL’s design turns it into a welcoming portal, inviting the city into the hotel and the retail-driven development behind it. The hotel’s heavily trafficked surroundings are softened by arranging guest rooms around internal and external courtyards, breaking down the tower’s scale and referencing local design. An elevated, landscaped pool deck is shielded from the road and the mall through landscaping.
